English single-manual harpsichord 1785.
Signed on the nameboard; "Longman and Broderip Musical Instrument Makers / No. 26 Cheapside and No. 13 Haymarket London".Made by, and signed on the reverse of the nameboard; "No. 466 Culliford & Co Makers Fountain Court Cheapside London Sept. 17**" signed the same on the side of the top key plus "1785" ,and on the top of the top key "Cairns No 5" On the bottom key "Glen No.2". Stamped "466" on the wrestplank.
Compass FF– f3 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals.
The mahogany veneered case with walnut crossbanding and boxwood stringing, and brass strap lid hinges. The stand a carefully made modern reproduction but with the original pedal.
